An excess amount of skin in the upper eyelid may obstruct vision and may cause difficulty in driving or reading. In such circumstances, upper eyelid blepharoplasty is performed to improve peripheral vision.
Blepharoplasty for Lower Eyelid
Lower eyelid blepharoplasty is almost always done for cosmetic reasons, to improve puffy lower eyelid "bags" and reduce the wrinkling of skin.
Procedure
There are two main types of incisions used for the blepharoplasty. The most common is just under the eyelashes of the eyelid. This is called the subciliary incision. The second type of incision is on the inside of the eyelid and is known trans-conjunctival incision.
