FAQs

What are the effects of BOTOX injections?

BOTOX injections appear to be very safe. The most serious side effect is drooping of the upper lid due to paralysis of the lid muscle or double vision caused by paralysis of small muscles of the eye. This complication is temporary and will disappear once the effect of Botox wears off. This is avoided by keeping the injection away from the lid and not lying down for 4 hours after thAre any Risks involved in the treatment?e injection. No systemic side effect has been reported to date. There may be some minor bruising which can be covered up with makeup.

What after care needs to be taken?

The head should be held elevated for 4 hours or more (no lying down). Ice application to the injected area will help in reduction of bruising and swelling. Makeup can be used within an hour. Expect results to start appearing in a couple of days and best results take a week.

Can the Problems with Aging be solved with Botox injection?

Yes. The lines that appear between the eye brows (frown lines), Worry lines of forehead, Sagging eye brow and Crow's feet (smile lines) all such problems can be solved.

How does Botox Injection work?

Botox is a purified protein. When small doses are injected directly into the muscles, impulses from the nerves to the injected muscle causing the wrinkles are blocked - allowing them to relax. This relaxing of the muscle allows the skin to smooth out persistent lines that develop over time.

How long will Botox Treatment last?

Botox treatments usually last about 10-15 minutes and keep the muscles that cause lines relaxed for up to 4 months. In some cases, with repeated treatments. Results are dramatic and apparent within days and unlike surgery it is fast, simple

and minimally invasive.

Where can Botox be Used?

It is most effective for wrinkles that are visible when smiling, laughing, raising the eyebrows or for crow's feet around the eyes. These wrinkles are called "dynamic" and tend to be much less noticeable when your face is completely relaxed. It also works well for bands in the neck.

When do I need Botox treatment?

The best candidates for the procedure are those between ages of 25 and 65. In many cases, wrinkles in people over 65 are "static" and do not change when relaxing the face. Other procedures would work better for these patients, including Restylane injections. Each person is different however, and should undergo a consultation to determine the most effective treatment plan. Most people return to work or normal activities immediately following treatment. It is recommended however, that you avoid exercise, heavy lifting and massaging the injected area for one day.

Are any Risks involved in the treatment?

Complications associated with a Botox injection include, but are not limited to:

  • Temporary redness and swelling at the injection site (usually diminishes in two to three days)
  • Temporary eyelid droop or dry eyes
  • Temporary frozen facial expression
