• State-of-the art NICU • Dedicated Neonatal Transport Ambulance with Ventilator • Centre of excellence for Neonatal Surgery • Center for high risk (complicated) pregnancy management
Oyster & Pearl (O&P), the worldclass mother & childcare hospital has launched an initiative – O&P NEOCARE - to provide ‘complete Newborn Care’ at their hospital, through their State-of-the-Art technology and team of expert doctors. “A sophisticated Neonatal intensive care is required for premature babies, babies with respiratory distress, sepsis, pneumonia, newborn Jaundice, low birth weight, convulsions”, explains Dr. Amita Phadnis, Director & Consulting Neonatologist & Pediatrician. Highlights of the O&P NEOCARE are: - Giraffe(TM) Omnibed – The 1st & only one in Pune. It is used worldwide, which offers that extra care needed for very low birth weight babies (with birth weight less than 1 kg). Giraffe is a highly sophisticated incubator plus warmer which gives very precise control over temperature and humidity. Giraffe has a host of other features which allow easy handling of very small babies. - Bili-Blanket phototherapy system – Jaundice is a common problem in newborns and it is treated with phototherapy (special Blue light). Bili-Blanket is a preferred choice for treatment of jaundice in newborns. It is a special wrap around phototherapy blanket which gently envelopes the baby, allowing it to remain close to mother nestled and cuddled. - Bear 750 PSV ventilators, Infrasonic High Frequency Ventilator, Bubble CPAP, Neonatal Total Parental Nutrition, Bedside Portable Echo and ultrasound. That’s not all – the Newborn Transport – a critical care on wheels, takes care of transporting sick newborns to the hospital. This requires a very high level of expertise and good quality of equipment with precision, as margin of error is close to none. “We are proud to launch our dedicated Neonatal Transport ambulance. The ambulance is equipped with highly sophisticated transport incubator, a transport Neonatal Ventilator, the 1st in Pune, multipara monitor and a host of equipment, instruments and medications required for stabilization of a newborn. The newborn transport is carried out by a team trained in stabilizing and transporting sick newborn. The doctor carries out critical steps in medical management on-site so that valuable time is saved in starting treatment”, says Dr. Amita Phadnis. In-Utero Transport - Dr. Amita firmly believes ‘Nature is always the best and no one can replicate what nature does’. Whenever possible, a woman who is likely to deliver a premature baby or has other high risk factors such as high blood pressure, age above 40yrs or bleeding during pregnancy, she is transferred to O&P for delivery rather than transporting a newly born fragile premature baby. This is called ‘IN-UTERO TRANSPORT’. Dr. Amita further explains ‘Time is a critical factor in the management of neonate. At O&P, delivery rooms, operation theatres and Neonatal ICU are interconnected with a ‘sterile lift’, which allows immediate transport of the neonates to NICU without any transport related risks’. Newborn Good Health Packages - “Neonates may have hidden illnesses such as kidney disorders, heart defects, hypothyroidism or other metabolic disorders. At O&P NEOCARE they have designed Newborn Good Health Packages which can give that extra assurance about normalcy of the baby. This is the first of its kind in Pune & probably in India too”, says Dr. Tushar Parikh, Consulting Neonatologist. Centre of excellence for Neonatal Surgery - Newborns are very delicate & neonatal surgery is very demanding. The training, professional expertise & skills of the surgeon coupled with post-operative support of the neonatal ICU is of paramount importance for excellent surgical results and survival of the babies”, says Dr. Dasmit Singh, Neonatal Surgeon. The O&P Neonatal Surgery team deals with all kinds of surgeries: cleft palate, kidney malformations, intestinal disorders, other birth defects, etc. Early intervention and High Risk Developmental Follow-up Program - Dr. Archana Phansalkar, Pediatric Physiotherapist explains that premature & sick newborns are at high risk for delay in growth and development. The early intervention program therefore, is an important aspect in working towards normal development. O&P NEOCARE is undoubtedly the destination for comprehensive newborn care in all aspects, not just for premature and sick babies, but for healthy and bonny babies too! For details, contact:
